This online magazine premiered in January 2000. It was created originally to highlight "Life Just West of the Hudson," namely Jersey City and other areas in New Jersey just across the river from Manhattan. Over time, it has developed a broader view, with freelance writers submitting articles on a variety of subjects. The Hilltop Observer is published by Henry Street Press, and maintains an office in Jersey City, in the neighborhood known as Hilltop. Hilltop is always seeking contributions from writers. We are looking for people to contribute articles on the following topics, as related to Hudson County and vicinity:

No remuneration is provided for contributed articles at the present time, but we will print a sentence or two at the end of your article about your company, business or organization as free advertising. We can also provide a link to your website. All submissions become the property of the Hilltop Observer, with the exception of literary submissions (commentary, editorials) where authors may retain ownership of such submissions with the understanding that Hilltop has the non-exclusive right to use the submission in perpetuity. We reserve the right to determine if and when a submission will be published, and to make edits as we feel appropriate. Letters to the editor are welcome and will also be considered for publication.
